The club was formed in 1977 and the court built with funds raised for the Queen's Silver Jubilee celebrations. The club's primary purpose is to provide a sporting facility for the villagers and visitors. Through careful management over the years the club has been able to maintain the court in first class condition, whilst keeping the cost to both members and visitors well below comparable venues. The club has had a fairly consistent membership over the years of 70 to 90 players, including both adults and juniors. As a policy, the club has encouraged younger people and in particular, allows Drake's Primary School to use the court. The club is registered with the Lawn Tennis Association as a"Places to Play" and our details are on the LTA website, but the club does not belong to any leagues. Members are encouraged to play together, leaving them to find their own level and simply enjoy the game. However there are usually an adult and junior tournaments each year, complete with an enjoyable BBQ.
The court in the recreation field, enjoys a good playing surface and great views.
